Neither have a very informational "about us" so I couldn't tell if they were the same seller or not.

Nancy's Cute Surprise Shop

8:20 PM Monday, May 18, 2009

reader comment:
<a href=""></a>

I flagged this seller the day they listed their first item two weeks ago. They have made 41 sales in two weeks with their mass produced crap listed in the handmade categories.

Almost everything is listed in the handmade Everything Else category, and on their very earliest listings under Materials they have put in “not made by me”. One item, a plush keychain (which clearly shows the commercial price tag) is under Dolls and Miniatures. I guess most of the stuff could go under Supplies, Commercial although the plush keychain shouldn’t be on Etsy at all.

This pisses me off. It could have been nipped in the bud if the flagging system actually worked.

Look at this super cheesy web layout for "<a href="">Etsy Secrets</a>". You think you would want to class it up a little bit so it didn't look so sham wow-y.

Ran by <a href="">TimothyAdamDesigns</a> he is sending people "quick! reserve your spot" VIP emails to join in the $47 a month "secret club".

One month the secrets are blogging, the next tweeting, etc. basically all "duh" information. His shop has 1300 sales, nothing to balk at yet not sure if that warrants $47/ monthly for his shop wisdom. It hasn't gotten him THAT far.

He at least conned one person, read about it <a href=";page=1">here</a>.

<a href="">Vonbeads</a> posted <a href="">this little gem in the forums</a> and of course it got shut down. Any thoughts?

vonbeads says:
Could there possibly be some distinction between the true art on Etsy and the throngs of craft items that can be mass produced with glue, and a handful of items that were purchased at a store and slightly altered to become handmade. No offense to all you crafters out there, but you are clogging up Etsy with your countless knick knacks. It's the same thing when i go to an Arts and Crafts fair. I set up my torch and start making handmade glass(pretty well if I do say so myself) and instead of making a killing, like so many of the older, female, vendors, who's ART is to paint a piece of wood (that they bought precut) green and sell it as a homemade christmas tree decoration or something. Not that that's bad, its just not art. people have a hard time finding me, im sure, because when i look up marbles, i find a huge assortment of those store bought half-marbles with pictures from magazines glued to the back. and im sure that WAY more of those sell on here than the handmade marbles that are being pushed further and further into the abyss, never to be seen again. there should be a way to rate items as art so that they are more easily findable. thanks for your time, and seriously no offense crafters. vaughn evans

Featured Seller Chat Scam?

7:41 AM Wednesday, May 13, 2009

This was interesting.

<a href=""></a>

<blockquote>I've noticed the Same few people in the Featured Seller chat, not to name names but they are all on at the same time EVERY night.

Well Ive noticed that they are "fishing" for sales by saying the sales are on fire or something along those lines, I also noticed that those same few Regular Featured Seller players always go up more then anyone else in the chat, i feel its unfair for those new user who come to improve sales, they normally buy from those Regulars and when its their turn no one buys from them, then the cycle goes on.

Ive also heard from other users that they buy from eachother but don't pay for the item so they look like people are buying to "Bait" the new Commers.

Maybe its just me, i dont know
I know the Feature Seller chat was used at first as a great promotional tool, I think its jsut getting abused</blockquote>

$155 for a fake bag?

8:11 PM Saturday, May 9, 2009

A reader commented on the shop vjones1.

I took a look around her shop and found this:
<img alt="" src="" class="alignnone" width="330" height="222" />
<a href="">Vintage MONOGRAM Checkered.Louis Vuitton.LV Logo.Classic handbag</a>

<strong>I think this might be a faux but has all the stamps and looks totally authentic but i have the real one from paris and it has a few minor differences.</strong>

So why is a FAKE, USED bag over $100??

Honestly, <a href="">Vonlady</a> needs to just close up her <a href="">shop</a>.

A reader recommended reading her <a href="">feedback</a> for a recent gem, it seems on top of everything else she is now hoarding cash. Stay classy!

<blockquote>5/5/09- BUYER BEWARE!! This vendor has had my money since March 20th (I paid immediately with paypal); my order arrived April 3rd with a poorly strung and badly matched pearls and the wrong pair of earrings. 4/3 vendor promised to send correct earrings on 4/6 and would restring pearls if I returned them. I returned immediately - on 4/14 she acknowledged receiving the pearls but I still did not have the correct earrings. On 4/14 I said I wanted all my order done correctly by 4/20 - vendor said she mailed the earrings and demanded that I refuse the pkg - she said as soon as she received the earrings back she would refund my $59.99. On 4/17 she acknowlged receiving the earrings returned by the post office due to the pkg and label ripping (the pkg never reached me). I have repeatedly asked for my money to be refunded to my paypal account and as of today 5/5 I still do not have my money. Vendor received money on 3/20 and all her product by 4/17 but after repeated excuses for not refunding my money and repeated promises to do so on "Monday" - I still don't have my money and vendor has not responded to my email requests since 4/26 when she said she would handle the money "tomorrow"!! The only positive in this whole experience is that the vendor told me on 4/6 to keep the earrings that were sent incorretly (as a gift)and are sold for $9.99 at her Estsy store.I have made 49 purchase through Etsy in the last 3 months and all other experiences have been totally pleasant and positive experiences.</blockquote>

Is Artfire really for losers?

9:19 PM Tuesday, May 5, 2009

<a href="">Pussdaddy</a> said this on her blog and we admit it, it made us laugh, but our question is if it is really true? We haven't even bothered looking over there. Even with all the soapdeli hype.

<blockquote>Also, contrary to what some twittering nitwits are saying, I will not be signing up at ArtFire. There are some good, honest sellers there that is true, but mostly ArtFire is comprised of all Etsy's sloppy seconds, if you will, the dregs and left overs who couldn't make it on Etsy, who finally moved to ArtFire to continue bitching because they tired of bitching on Etsy, so why the heck would I want to go there?</blockquote>

This is what her blog says:
"I am not exactly sure what I am going to do yet, whether I am just going to wait to get what I have ordered and then delete my account, or if I am going to stay on and buy. Either way, my buying on Etsy will probably be drastically reduced anyway as I made a lot of my buys in the forum, so I don't see that it matters much one way or the other. I will talk to my husband and see what he thinks and then decide. It is not like it is any life altering event in my life or anything, but I have to weigh the pros and cons of it all."

She must have a really trouble free life to have to discuss with a spouse the pros and cons of buying at a site that won't let her shoot her mouth off.

We're happy, she was a pain in the ass but there is a whine thread <a href="">here</a>.

Feel free to discuss.

" was shut down; she was an etsy top seller who sold lots of copyrighted images. However, ss reopened as affordable graphics here:
<a href=""></a>
Apparently she has stopped ripping off disney! But her “Fabric Inspired” designs look like amy b and other top designers. i can’t say they are for sure, but someone who knows their work better prolly can identify if they are."

Anyone able to say?
