This guy is a repeat offender. He opened a shop last year where he sold graphics that he stole from a graphic artist. He sold one item, you can see it in his sold section. He was shut down. He has now reopened and is selling the modern version of a Chia pet – the “Little White Man’. Not his handmade, vintage, or supply….it’s resale. You can see it here: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/216199005/Little_White_Man_Grass_Doll.html

He is a total reseller. None of the trunks and boxes he is selling are authentic vintage either, they’re 100% reproductions – I can go buy them right now at my local TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I’m sure with a little hunting any of us could find them online as well.

ETSY FAIL!

3. Another shop that sells a wide variety of items, but hides the wooden items under 'vintage'. Hard to prove that a wooden purse or clock from Hong Kong is, or isn't, vintage. My guess is that they are factory fresh, but it will be hard to get a flag to stick to this shop and permanently shut them down.

Chia pet style figures have been around for like 75 years. I have a vintage Sear's catalog from before WWII, and there's a Chia style head in there.

Personally, I'd be concerned about importing seeds from China, legal or not. Don't know what would happen if the seeds were introduced into your local eco-system. (Digging in the dirt, anyone?) A lot of invasive plants crowding out native North American species originated in Asia.

4. He was on the front page? Are you kidding me?

5. DUDE! His ANNO box is from a computer game online! HAHAHA! Real vintage!!

6. FAIL. I happen to own one of the boxes with that clasp thingy just like his. Almost identical! I know it well inside and out because I keep my thank you cards and bus cards in it!

7. There is no difference really between his Little White Man and selling a plant of some kind in a vintage teacup, except the Little White Men don't ruin vintage teacups. I'm pretty sure I've seen plants in vintage china or glassware on the FP. I'm not sure what is handmade about these items?

I mean, my late uncle who was a pioneer in plant cloning, grew orchids from cells. That was a handmade plant.

I see the White Man sold. No surprise there.

8. Well people are "assembling" the plants and teacups, choosing vessels to go with different types/shapes of plants. That doesn't bother me.

The "little white man" comes with the seeds from the manufacturer in China.

9. It's thoughtful of Etsy to lower the bar for handmade artisan work to the ground. But I'm not sure I'd be happy if I understood what precisely they were thinking... Some things are better left as a mystery.

His effing vintage box is from an online game!!

12. I love the descriptions -- "just a few scratches here and there, could use a detailed cleaning". lol Yes, because the factory where they were made PAYS people to scuff them up to make them look old.

13. The difference between the people putting a plant into a teacup and the thing he's selling is that he doesn't do anything...he isn't even planting it. He's just reselling the box with the stuff in it.

From his listing:
Plant Instruction:
1. Take the Hair Man Plant out of the box

That thing was on the fp? Way to go, Etsy. Keep researching those things you put into your treasuries.......

14. Epic fail.

There's the Anno 1404 box, without the searching.

That's super-lame. I found some more suppliers with those white head-grass men. And listing more. What a shame.

Flagged.

15. Look at the sold digital sheet - where he suggests we "then visit my girlfriend's art shop at
http://sooooound.etsy.com"

How sweet! She's the one who bought the download. Now go to her shop where her shop announcement makes no mention of reselling rip off merchants for boyfriends.

She likes to promote him here though.

I wonder what those other friends shops she suggests we see are like? Personally I feel too dejected to look right now.

18. Front page! Admins are such asshats.

And the Content team is slow enough that by the time these flagged items get looked at they'll all probably be Vintage anyway!

19. Reseller - contacted etsy - still wont remove items.

Check it out.

20. Sara-they are supplies, so that stuff is okay per Etsy.

WTF is Ivan still doing on there?

EtsyCallOut

21. I mean, really...I hate to think this, but Etsy doesn't care do they? Why would they put flagrant resellers on the FP? I don't get it. It makes me sad!

EtsyCallOut

22. He had three sales before being on the fp, now he has nine. Epic fail, Etsy......

EtsyCallOut

23. I don't think its so much ETSY Fail on a whole but that people at etsy aren't empowered to make decisions like closing shops (even temporarily) without substantial oversight. Its almost like a governmental thing.

EtsyCallOut

24. Etsy can do anything they want; they don't give a shit about their site. Has nothing to do with regulations or anything remotely beaurocratic: it't just laissez-faire IGNORANCE.

25. with such products how come etsy doesn't put a stop to this

Etsy doesn't give a shit , that is the REAL problem.
I would be willing to bet all those flags go straight into the recycle bin.

.... And it looks like more stock photos that he liberated from the companies.
What a crock of bull dung!

35. He re-uses stock photos and there are several sources for his 'handmade' items. . .way to go, Etsy.

36. His shop is empty now, but he says the next update will be next Monday. Maybe he's painting faces on the dolls... Oops, I hope he doesn't follow this blog... I think he was already trying to sell them as supplies, because the newest listings (before they were removed) said something about using them as props for photos - anyone else notice this?

EtsyCallOut

37. Now they're photo props?? It seems like he's always looking for an angle. Is it really SO important to this guy to have an etsy shop that he has to keep making crap up and passing off other people's work as his own? Instead of all the lying and sneaking around maybe he should, I dunno......try actually creating something worth selling? Or sell actual vintage items instead of new things with scuffs on them? It's not like he's becoming a millionaire hawking all of the fake crap anyway, why expend so much energy and time lying and being deceitful? I don't get it.

EtsyCallOut

38. Empty shop! Finally!
