12:39 AM Friday, September 11, 2009Just came across your blog, pointed out to me by another seller who thought I'd be interested, and I've got a reseller for you. This shop has been on Etsy since March 21, 2008.
<a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5726325">http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5726325</a>
They'll have 10-15 pages of the exact same item. They are selling these exact pieces on ebay as well, except there they don't bother lying saying they "handmake the chains."

They've been flagged by multiple members of three different teams over the course of the last six months, and they're still there.
Those exact watches can be bought from another seller on ebay for $10 each! Here's the link http://jewelry.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=pocket&_sacat=14324&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_dmpt=Wristwatches&_ssn=timeholders&_odkw=&_osacat=14324
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
If you can find a $10 on in the exact style as ones the Etsy seller has listed then definitely report with a link. Unfortunately all they have to do is list the watches as supplies to be ok with Etsy anyway. Ugh.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
I think I might just one of those.
If I do , it'll be from ebay "cheapskate"
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Even if the pages and pages of identical listings didn't give it away, the prices would.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Steampunk is played.
This seller is a powerdork, get them OFF Etsy and make way for HANDMADE articles by craftspeople that give a MF damn.
Who cares?

The Friday reseller rush has begun. Here's a shop where you can get iPods. I've flagged but we'll see how long this takes.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
How come Etsy just doesn't eliminate the reseller and vintage rule and be done with it?
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Check out this vintage seller:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7826946
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
So now Etsy is the place to buy iPods and cell phones? Why can't they hire personnel to at least give a quick look at new stores. Something like this would be gone in two seconds.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Since when is it a crime to make some extra money?
Who appointed you people the "Etsy Police"?
Maybe , just maybe, you should find something constructive to do with your time instead of bothering/living vicariously threw hard working people trying to pay their bills.
NEWS FLASH! If Etsy had a problem with my shop , would I still be there?
So suck it up and live with it.
If anyone is interested in some handmade jewelry I might consider a discount.
Just mention you seen my shop on the self appointed Etsy Police Blog and you know what they say , There Is No Such Thing As Bad Press.
I have some beautiful handmade jewelry to make.
What will YOU do today?
Blog about me??????
LOL & BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Besides, you are too stupid to have a shop policy or even a profile on your Etsy shop, and I know I would never buy from anyone too lazy to fill out this stuff. And I don't know why other people buy from them either.
PussDaddy
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Dude, Etsy is for HANDMADE items. How tough is that to figure out?
Keep your resale stuff on Ebay, and put your Handmade stuff on Etsy.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Sheesh, I didn't think anyone could be dumber or more self destructive than Shadejewelry and Vonlady.
I was wrong!
Keep it coming, Tempus. I'm loving the show so far.
Shoot that foot, shoot it!
In related news, Vonlady's shop is still empty : http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5247852
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
If you really are the real tempusfugit, and I can't believe you are (and sincerely hope you aren't,) the point is that we Etsy sellers who really really make our stuff, also really really care that our marketplace isn't cluttered up with people just pretending. You know?
Make a buck by all means - but you have your legitimate places to sell, so why not sell there?
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Well, you heard wrong, asshole. Etsy didn't give me the boot, I left of my own accord. Etsy did mute me in the forum, however. Try getting your facts straight. And just because I am not on Etsy does't mean I don't still buy from Etsians. I got 2 packages from Etsians last week.

EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
I'm going to convo every one of her buyers with a link to the ebay item where they can pay her handmade items for a lot cheaper.
Nasty seller.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Playing devil's advocate here, since he is adding a chain to the watches, it's technically 'hand assembled' and allowable by etsy rules. snort.
I just feel bad for buyers who think they are getting something handmade when they buy off of etsy. How long before etsy gets the reputation of being 'your place for all things, some of them may be handmade, but most are mass produced pieces of junk'?
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
reselling on etsy is a problem because many who shop on etsy are looking for a more conscientious way to shop.
we trust that artisans are in fact making these products. we have the option to buy on etsy locally, free from sweatshop labor, and unfair employee treatment.
when a reseller sets up shop, claiming items are handmade, the opportunity to shop in this way becomes difficult.
there are appropriate venues for reselling. please utilize those marketplaces instead of etsy.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
Junk or not it sells.

Sure you just got 2 packages from Etsians last week.
Of course you did ;)

tempus fugit- you have 2100 pocket watches listed right now! Are you telling us you made those by hand? What if someone were to buy them all at once as a large order- would you have them in stock to ship to the customer? Why list HUNDREDS of the exact same style in your shop? Did Etsy tell you to keep those listing fees coming in or they would have to shut you down?
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
Would you like to place an order?
Or are you simply window shopping?

Assembled stuff is legit on Etsy, and is considered handmade. Attaching a single bead to an earwire or a pendant to a chain is 'assembled'.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
You have a point. As much as I hate to admit that. "eye roll"
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
A pendant to a chain is assembled???
Come on who hell is making these rules?? Retards??
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
I understand the assembled stuff is allowed on Etsy but it looks like this .99 watch on Ebay, which is very similar the gunmetal one tempus fugit sells, comes WITH a chain. So what exactly is being "assembled"? Is it simply the act of attaching the chain that makes it legit- even if it's a chain that comes with the watch from the wholesale supplier? Or I guess just stating that you "made" the chain is enough proof for etsy.

Tempus, I think we both know the problem isn't earning money. It's using a "handmade" site to destash an awful lot of watches. Do you really hand-make and assemble each chain for your thousands of watches? I wouldn't trust you enough to buy one and find out. It's tacky. Besides, there are other sites that have no problem with you, whether you honestly "hand assemble" or otherwise.
Etsy is targeted to those looking for handmade crafts, supplies, and vintage. Do you see how you might be selling customers short?
As for whether you fall within the TOU, maybe Etsy admins haven't reviewed your shop. And that's what a lot of us are bent on accomplishing: scoring you a review. Hope you hold up.

Hopefully she doesn't sell anything on Etsy, best she may be able to do is connect some Lego blocks together. :)

Alot of hostility will come from that.

DON'T BOTHER CHANGING NAMES TO JUSTIFY YOURSELF. IP ADDRESS SHOWS YOU ARE THE SAME AS TEMPUS. DON'T EMBARRASS YOURSELF ANY FURTHER- eco
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
Please Brit understand that some of us DO have successful shops and we're still angry that Etsy allows people to sell mass produced crap and items made by craftsman in poor countries, and pass it off as their own handmade products. And sometimes it's as easy to do as putting "I made this" in their listings until someone proves otherwise to Etsy by sending links as to where the items can be purchased wholesale. I don't spend my whole day worrying about this stuff but if I want to check the call out blog while I have my coffee in the morning or a break in the afternoon I don't see why it should bother you.
And Tempus- I had pretty much stopped caring about your shop until you decided to come here and act like a total dick. You've renewed my energy to keep searching for wholesale pocket watches (with incorrect Roman numerals lol).
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
Well it seems that for ages many pocket watches/clocks have used incorrect Roman numeral fours. Oh well.... still searching.
EtsyCallOut September 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM
FYI, using the subtractive form, like IV or IX, is only an option. Both IIII and IV are correct, just like VIIII and IX.

They list their Loc as Guangzhou. I've been in the bead business and that is where many, many wholesalers of pearls and beads are located. They can probably get those neckalces for 5-10% of US retail.
