Scavenger Hunt!
8:45 PM Wednesday, June 24, 2009This reader issued a WilliamDohman challenge:
He is trying for some more attention now. First he posts this in Business and it gets moved to promos.
http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=6197038
So he then duplicates it and starts again in Business.
http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=6197052
And if anyone can find where he stole the robot design, big props to you! It has to be stolen. That guy is a turd.
Get your searching hats on! I'll start:
The face/head reminds me of an Alexander Shen <a href="http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=190064.0">wooden robot</a> he posted back on Craftster.org in '07<img alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9HzrJC1mVh3yPwVsqrxpsDUqjOLZkDAW0714lrHl0yBuYNIuxm8g9PZFKjgHm3RfMhTXTa1hS-CNzLFCn_DX5bbWp10B1wlBd9P0qlSxa-iqjm7y32s4FHIXs-JdScjb8IAvI6rzzCug/s320/photo-006.jpg" class="alignnone" width="213" height="320" />
No robot, but there's this:

What a smary pig.
"8"x10” twist on the Sex Pistols God Save the Queen image."
It's not stealing, it's TWISTING.

Tweets are good too.

Wow, funny how something I posted years ago pops up once again! You can see that the robots this guy is selling look even more like the later iterations of the Woodbots I made! Then again, maybe it's a huge coincidence.
Here are the Woodbots I made in bulk and sold last year:
http://www.wanderingpandacomics.com/blog/woodbot.php
They were even on Notcot.org a long time ago:
http://www.notcot.org/post/9452/
Then there's the comic I started four or five months ago:
http://www.robotinthecity.com
And the plushies I had made a few months after:

This was a very interesting find! They do certainly look like the Woodbots I made back in 2007/2008. If you look at the later ones I made, the faces look even more similar... minus the arms and legs.
Little Woodbots:

Did everyone see his signs in today's Etsy Finds email? It's in the Storque, too: http://www.etsy.com/storque/spotlight/etsy-finds-locally-grown-4233/
Sometimes I feel like they blatantly pick people to feature (as with the recent reseller in the gift guides) in direct defiance of our complaints.

Did you see the materials on those sandals? Now, a quick web search for Pu indicates it's either plutonium or a type of plastic, but thinking the shoes are actually made of pu is MUCH funnier.
BitchenStitchen2 September 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM
I am truly speechless. With all of the evidence that etsy was provided that she was reselling, they didn't shut her down completely?
Gern Blanston September 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM
You stepped in pu.
Gern Blanston September 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM
ewwwww.

Ugh -- Vonlady is back! http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5247852
I'm not sure which I dislike more, people who blatantly copy other people's work or people like her, who just flat-out lie about all their work.
JK September 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM
HEY! VONLADY IS INNOCENT! SHE USED HER VACATION TIME TO WORK ON NEW ORIGINAL DESIGNS! SHE CAN'T HELP IT IF HER OLD ORIGINAL DESIGNS WERE STOLEN BY OTHERS! IF IT WEREN'T FOR VONLADY, NO ONE WOULD HAVE A CLUE HOW TO STRING BEADS ONE AFTER THE OTHER! SHE INVENTED THIS! SHE IS A SAINT! SHE IS REVERED IN CHINA!
YOU'RE JUST J E A L O U S!
Bedazzled Condom September 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM
I expect the photos he's 'shopped to display his artwork in room settings are stolen too... probably from some interiors blog?
Hmm September 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM
Can we do another vonlady? Here is her listing:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12238316
and here is the ebay listing from the actual company in China that makes the bracelet, with the same exact photographs:
